The Encouragers Life is proud to provide a safe space and platform for the voices of others to share their stories.


VOC stands for Voices of Champions.  Many who have overcame or found a way through a life issue or event are the champions of our societies.  

Those that refuse to quit.

Those that fought to survive.

Those that are still standing.

Those that thrive in spite of everything.

You don't have to write a piece.

You can email us at theencouragerslife@gmail.com telling us a bit about your story or even pop us a message in the contact form at the bottom of the page.

We will then send you some questions to answer, which will help you share your story with our audience and mailing list.


FAQ

Do I have to use my real name?

No.  Having a name allows readers to connect with your story but we can change your name.  We also will not ask, or use a photo of you.  Of course if you would like us to, in order to promote your platform, we are happy to accommodate this.

Will my story just be on the website?

It will be published on the website but quotes and subject matters will be shared on our social media platforms to reach out to those in our communities that your story can bring hope and encouragement to.

Will I get to read the piece before it is published?

Most definitely yes.  It's your story and so it is important that it is a genuine representation of your message.

What kind of questions will I be asked?

Your initial email will determine the questions but the questions put to you are to support you to share insight and hope to others who may have experienced or are going through a similar situation.  Follow up questions may come if you share something that we would love to develop further.

Will my story be pulled for any reason?

Only if we can't develop a piece that you are happy with, or if certain behaviours mean that we have to terminate the relationship / contact. However, we see this as something that will be extremely rare.

Will I be able to advertise my platform?

We would love to support you if you are building something awesome and we can work towards tagging and sharing information about your page, website or other.

Becoming Woman

For all of my life I have not been the ‘average,’ woman.  To each person that may mean something different so, I would like to clarify my perspective.   When I was growing up I thought womanhood was about; Dolls Having boyfriends or male admirers Gentleness Quietness Fertility Being good at stuff but not sharing about it. Knowing how to dress Knowing how to style my hair and do the whole makeup thing   And I didn’t fit.   I hated dolls and they still creep me out a little bit.   I was often mistaken for a boy because I was always covered in nature or doing, ‘boy activities.’   In fact I have often worked in male dominated environments.   Environments that woman are a rarity. To The Lonely- You Are Not Alone

  Sitting on the carpet at my parents’ store, I remember the fibres poking through my school tights as I watched them work.   I observed my family negotiate social situations and talk like pros.   The subtle shifts in stance.   The smiles.   The tender tones. And the occasional expression that accompanied holding a tearful customers hand.    They had it all together.   They knew what they were doing.   But I felt just like the carpet I rested on.   I was waiting to feel useful.   I was ready for someone to look at me and say, that’s the one I want.   It's perfect. I desired that in friendships.  I desired that from teachers.    I desired that from someone.  Anyone.    I knew I had something inside me that was different.    I saw the world a little deeper than others that I came in to contact with.
